Poland Meeting

Our meetings have finished. Poland was the last one. An unforgettable week with our partners from Poland, Turkey, Italy and Spain. Here you can see some pictures of our meeting in Poland.

Weekend in Warsaw (20th-23rd of May)

Before we start the meeting, we spend a weekend in Warsaw with our mates from other schools. A great opportunity to know the capital of Poland with our school partners. One curiosity we must know about this capital is that is was destroyed in a high percentage (80%) in the II World War.

Warsaw Barbican (1548 d.C)

Nicolaus Copernicus Statue.
His name in Polish is Mikołaj Kopernik and he was the most important Polish Renaissance astronomer.
He is considered to be the founder of the modern astronomy.

The Pope John Paul II is one of the most important well known person in Poland. 
You can see pictures and statues of him through the whole Poland.

Chopin´s Heart (Holy Cross Church)

Palace of Culture and Science is the tallest building in Poland. 
A gift from the Soviet Union to the people of Poland. 
The original name of the building was Joseph Stalin Palace of Culture and Science.
Second World War Museum

Wellcome in Checiny (24th May)

After a long trip, we arrived at Checiny on Monday night.
The day after we visited the Polish School in Bolmin.
All the pupils and teachers of Szkola Podstawowa waited for us at the entrance of the school
with flags of the four countries.

Some pupils showed us some performaces for the Wellcome Ceremony.
 Turkish, Italian, Spanish and Polish teachers with some pupils.

Parents of Polish School prepared a trational food for all the guests.
It was a really good experience for all of us to taste this wonderfull food in a really good atmosphere.

Ethnological Museum of Takornia



A school of XVIII Century.
One of the buildings we could visit in the ethnological museum.
At the evening, teachers and parents of the school had a barbacue together and 
practiced some traditional dances of Turkey, Poland, Spain and Italy.
We also singed some songs of the different countries.

Visiting Checiny (25th May)

The day started with a hard way up to visit the castle.
Here you can see all the teachers with the Polish Guide.

Inside the castle we could see some medieval performances, practice archery...

Second World War monument. All Polish people have very bad feeling in their lifes,
and they always remember that bad history chapter in their lifes.
John Paul II and Religious places in Poland are very common in the whole country.
Poland is a very religious country.
In the afternoon we visited Jaskinia Raj (Paradise Cave) One of the most beautiful caves in Poland.

The stalagtites and stalagmites are made of calcium and iron.

Visiting Cracow (26th May)

One of the most beautiful cities in Europe, Cracow, was our next destination.
The legend of Wawel Dragon in Wawel Castle one of the most famous tales in Poland.
This city was not destroyed during the Second World War.

In the afternoon we visited Salt Mines in Wieliczka. A very interesting place.

The mine's attractions for tourists include dozens of statues made of salt.
We were walking 135 metres deep.
A big Chapel inside the Salt Mines. The most impressive place of the visit.

As you can see,everywhere there are statues everywhere. This is one of the most important people in Poland.

A visit to Auswicthz. Nazi concentration camp (27th May)

Of course, this was the saddest visit in our trip and it helped us to reflect about this horrible chapter of our most recent history. An impresive fact that we could experienced is that there were around 1500 people visiting the camp and there was and amazing silence everywhere. Around 1.300.000 peopled died in this Concentration camp. It was declared Heritage of the humanity by UNESCO in 1979.

Clausure Ceremony (28th May)

The Clausure Cermony was celebrated in the Tourism Office of Checiny. Robert Jaworski (Checiny Mayor) presided the giving of attendance certificates .
